10 Virgins/Which one am I ? Matthew 25:1-13 The parable of the 10 virgins has had many Christians asking questions. Who are the virgins and what are they waiting for? I believe that they are Christians who believe that the Lord is coming back to fetch His Bride. They're waiting for Jesus' return. They've all abstained from going after the things of this world. They've kept themselves clean. They did all the right things like going to church, being involved with the community, maybe even being raised up in the ministry. But, five of them were wise and five foolish. When the Bridegroom came five of them were not ready. They had taken no oil with them which really meant that they really didn't believe He was coming anytime soon. What is the oil? It is the Holy Spirit. Who is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter and it is He that bears the name of Jesus. John 14:16-26. How do we take that oil with us? We take it with us when we trust and obey. How do we trust and obey? We do that by sitting at His feet and enjoying Him and making Him preeminent in our lives. Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; I've seen many brothers and sisters go through the small ministry I'd been in and still are in rather quickly and for the most part I don't believe it was under God's will. The Lord does not place you somewhere to build a short term relationship and then take you out and place you somewhere else. There is no building in that, no flourishing and no growth. Many left because they couldn't take the fact that there was nothing they could do to please God except to just sit at His feet and enjoy Him doing it all. They forgot about Mary and Martha and how Mary chose the good part which was Jesus and Martha was troubled about many other things. Lk.10:38-42. "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way...." Isa. 53:6. It is hard to stop ourselves from doing what we want to do. It's hard when we aren't seeking Him. Dying to our nature is not easy. It's a daily process. I have watched loved ones slip away day after day, hour after hour and fighting for life. Yet it wasn't until they made the decision to go on that life ebbed away and a new life awaited them. We need to make that decision to go on. This old creature needs to die in order for the new creation to come alive. Psalm 116:15 Precious to the Lord is the death of His Saints. We need not forget the last part of Isaiah 53:6 "...and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all." He's already done it all for us now what more can we do except allowing Him to finish the work in us. Now I know that He has brought us here for His purpose of building the Church. The building does not exist with things made by our own hands but by the Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Heb. 9:11. We need to stand and allow Him to judge us now. Let Him cleanse us with His Word. Heb. 4:12. "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Rom. 8:1. When our sins are revealed to us then let His Word condemn us to die for when we die we live. It is an awesome thing when we see the wickedness inside ourselves for it is only then that we can take that step even closer to knowing Him. When we realize that no good thing dwells in us(Rom. 7:18), then we can truly place our trust and devotion in Him.
